School Clubs
Ms. O’Connell’s Morning Program
Calling all Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd graders! Join us for a fun and engaging morning club where students will learn how to confidently use a laptop PC while strengthening their reading skills. Through interactive activities, digital learning tools, and guided practice, children will build early technology skills and grow as readers in a supportive, hands-on environment. This is a wonderful opportunity for young learners to boost confidence, build independence, and start their day with purposeful learning and fun! This club meets in room 205 Every Wednesday a.m. October-May
Student Technology Club
Allows a group of 5th grade students to work together to create the slideshow for the school’s Moving Up Ceremony. Club members collect and organize photos from their classmates’ years at Lake Avenue Elementary, from kindergarten through 5th grade, and design a presentation that highlights how much the students have grown before heading to middle school. Through this project, students build teamwork, creativity, and technology skills while helping create a meaningful celebration for their class. The club meets in 204 two times per month; Friday mornings before school.
Yearbook Club
Allows students to work together to create the school’s yearbook, capturing memories from across the entire school year. This group of 5th graders organizes and selects photos from classrooms and events for all grades, kindergarten through 5th grade, and helps design the layout and format of the final book. Through this process, students collaborate, use creativity and technology skills, and help preserve special moments for the whole Lake Avenue school community. The club meets in 204 once per month; Thursday after school.
Battle of the Books (BOTB)
This a fun, yet challenging club with goals of fostering a love of reading, improving reading comprehension, promoting teamwork, and healthy competition among students. Opportunities for students in grades 3-5 to participate.
The club meets once a week from late October until March and concludes with multi-district competition run through WSWHE BOCES.
Science Fair
Allows interested students in grades 3–5 to explore scientific ideas and develop curiosity through hands-on investigation across all areas of STEAM. As a student-centered, academically based organization, this club provides opportunities for students to ask questions, design simple investigations, and discuss topics of interest. The anticipation is that the club will enable students to enhance their understanding of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics while building confidence as young investigators. This club meets 1–2 times weekly from March through May and culminates with a Science Fair Exhibition that invites the Saratoga Springs community.

Student Council
Student Council gives students the opportunity to grow as leaders and make a meaningful impact on both our school and the wider community. This student‑led group helps build school spirit, organize community service projects such as food drives, and works together to brainstorm ways to make Lake Avenue an even better place to learn and grow.
This club meets in Room 311 on Wednesday (biweekly) before school.
Best Buddies
Best Buddies is open to 4th and 5th graders who are interested in building friendships between students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. We meet monthly and have activities both outside of and within the school day.
This club meets in Room 312 before school, once per month, November-May
Olympics of the Visual Arts (OVA)
Open to grades 4 and 5 (with priority for 5th graders) who desire an art enrichment experience outside of the school day! OVA challenges students to collaborate on design projects that highlight creativity, teamwork, and innovative thinking. In April, our team will participate in a statewide creative problem-solving event hosted by the New York State Art Teachers Association at our local City Center! Please note this program is a serious time commitment and geared for those who truly enjoy being creative!
This club meets in the Art Studio (Room 108) every Friday morning before school from November – April. Limited to 12 students.
Drama Club
Lake Avenue Drama Club offers students in fourth and fifth grade the opportunity to artistically express themselves both on and off the stage. Drama Club provides a platform for learning or engaging in singing, dancing, costume and stage design, and above all a chance to show off our amazing talent at Lake Avenue. The goal for Drama Club is for our older students to gain experience in the arts and encourage them to step outside their comfort zones.

MOST Before and After School Programs
The Lake Ave PTA offers enrichment activities for students throughout the year including: Morning PE, Foreign Language, Art, Yoga, Cursive, Legos and more! Offerings and registration info is communicated via ParentSquare and handouts throughout the year.

Girls on the Run
After school program offered to girls in grades 3-5. The program aims to inspire participants to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun curriculum which creatively integrates running and movement. Registration is limited to 15 participants. Registration is communicated via ParentSquare.
