Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, New York State Education Law Section 926 requires school districts to provide families with annual information on drowning prevention, water safety and safe swimming practices.
As part of this requirement, SSCSD is sharing resources from the New York State Department of Health to help families promote safe behaviors around pools, lakes, rivers and other bodies of water.
Families are encouraged to review these resources and discuss important water safety practices with their children.
