June 15, 2009
There was a faulty sensor at the Maple Avenue Middle School today,
causing the alarms to go off. Students were outside for approximately 15
minutes. We apologize for this inconvenience.
YEARBOOKS
This message is to all of those students who did NOT
pre-order a yearbook for this year.
We will be selling extra yearbook slips starting on
Monday, June 8, 2009, in Mr. Coons' Computer Room (O243). If
you have not purchased a yearbook and would like to do so, bring in $22.00 (cash
only, NO CHECKS) and you will be given a receipt slip. Your book will
be available at the same time the other books come in. Students are asked to
purchase the slips, either before homeroom or during a flex period. This is
on a First Come, First Serve basis, as extra books are limited in number.
THERE WILL BE NO SALES AFTER THE BOOKS ARE HANDED OUT.

Here you will find correspondence that is sent out throughout the year.
The community of Bumwalukani and the Arlington Academy
of Hope would like to thank the thoughtful community of parents and
students at Maple Avenue Middle School for their generous donations
toward the purchase of bednets. These bednets will help prevent
malaria, which causes much sickness and occasional deaths in the village
of Bumwalukani. On her trip to the
village this summer, one of our Maple Avenue teachers will carry
over your generous donations (of over $1,000 already!) and begin a
bednet program there. The people there and at our sister school, the
Arlington Academy of Hope, are already most appreciative of all your
efforts on their behalf, and will no doubt be singing your praises
(literally!) once again this summer. If
you would like to make a donation toward toward this cause, please
contact Traci Radigan at
