Club Meetings and Information October 16th, 2023 

A Pickleball Fundraiser is being held at the Saratoga YMCA on October 28 from 4-6 pm. Cost is $20 per team. Additional donations are welcome. The event will be capped at 20 teams and is filling up fast. All proceeds will go directly to the American Cancer Society in a fund dedicated to childhood cancer research.  See Gabe Stein and JL Whitman outside the cafeteria during lunch blocks next week to sign up. 

Our annual poinsettia and wreath sale has started! Forms have been distributed to your flexes and there are extra forms in each house office. All proceeds go back to the students of Maple Avenue, so SELL SELL SELL!!!! 

Learn about lending a hand with A hand up club, Monday, October 16th in room 278. Join us and help to make the world a better place! 

Math Club will be meeting on October 26 in Room R232. 

Hand Drum club will meet today in room A118 at 2:35 

French Club will meet on Wednesday, October 18 at 2:35 in room E142. All students are welcome, even if you do not take French. 

Attention all 7th & 8th grade boys interested in joining indoor track, there will be an informational meeting in Mr. Reilly’s room, D-176, on Wednesday the 18th after school. Stop by and get an information packet if you are unable to attend. Hope to see you there! 

MAGSA will have its next meeting on Wednesday, October 18th in room E138. The club is for any middle school student — LGBTQ+, friends, and allies. See Mr. Kane with any questions! 

A reminder that Knitting Club meets every Monday afterschool in Room C122 with Mrs. Levin. Any students who knit or crochet or want to learn are encouraged to join. 

Any students who are interested in singing- in groups or solos- should come to Voice club in the Chorus room this Wednesday after school. This club is for any students who enjoy singing- even if you are not in Chorus class. Hope to see you there! 

This week is the Scholastic Book Fair in the library! If you’d like to purchase a book, they accept cash and eWallets that your parents can set up online. The focus of this fair is on BOOKS! There will be extremely limited other stuff for sale! All 6th graders will be visiting during ELA Win. Study hall and flex teachers, please send two students at a time. Contact library staff with any questions! 

No Place for Hate will meet after school today in room 257. 

8th Graders! The deadline to register for the Washington, D.C, trip is this Friday! Medical form A and the room form are also due on Friday as well. Complete these to be part of an unforgettable trip! 

Wednesday, October 18th is Unity Day! On Unity Day, students all around the country wear orange to support kindness, inclusion, and acceptance. On Wednesday, October 18th, the Maple Avenue School community will participate in a Unity Walk during flex. This year our theme is: “walking a mile in someone else’s shoes”. Let’s show our support for kindness, inclusion and acceptance by wearing orange and participating as a school community in the Unity Walk and signing the No Place For Hate pledge. 

Introduction to Bagpiping will meet this Wednesday in Ms. Barber’s room, P222. All are welcome! 

International club will be meeting after school on Wednesday, October 18 in room 255. All are welcome to attend!
