For several years, the Saratoga Springs City School District has strived to become a more culturally competent school community by engaging our students, staff, parents, and community members in conversations that will help create a school environment that fosters academic and personal growth with respect for all.
The Saratoga Springs City School District Pathways Vision directly supports this important work: “The Saratoga Springs school community will empower all learners in an engaging, collaborative environment to discover their personal pathways to the future” and is rooted in the four core beliefs of equity of opportunity, collaboration, community and personalization. The Saratoga Springs City School District is committed to creating equitable learning opportunities for every student.
NYS Board of Regents Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Framework
The New York State Board of Regents launched an initiative to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in schools across the New York State. As first steps in the initiative, the Board released a policy statement and a draft framework and call to action for all schools in New York State to develop policies that advance diversity, equity and inclusion as a priority in their schools.
In 2021, the Saratoga Springs Board of Education adopted an Equity, Inclusivity & Diversity In Education Policy and approved an Equity, Inclusivity & Diversity In Education Regulation.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee
The District Equity & Inclusion Committee supports our district’s Pathways Vision and ongoing work in creating a more equitable, inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment for all students, staff, and community members. This committee has been engaged in conversation and is developing action plans to recommend policies and implement practices designed to promote diversity, facilitate growth in becoming a culturally competent school community, and improve access, opportunity, and outcomes for all students.
