Morning Announcements 2/9/26

Maple Ave Morning Announcements

Today is February 9th

Today is a “B” day

  • French Club will meet on Wednesday after school in room E142. All students are welcome, even if you don’t take French. Any questions, contact Ms. Decker

  • Save the date! Maple Ave’s annual dodgeball tournament will be Friday, March 13th. Sign-ups will not happen until the week of the tournament but START thinking about your teams now! Teams of 10 must be made up of more than one gender; players must all be in the same grade, and players must be Maple Ave students. Start asking now, and please be KIND & INCLUSIVE!

  • The International Club will host a special meeting after school today in the library. We will talk about our Olympic and Paralympic project and talk to our guest speaker. Everyone is welcome to join us!

  • Pride Club is meeting today after school in room 243.

  • There will be a virtual Information Night about the Science, Math, and Technology programs on Monday, February 9th from 7:00–8:00 PM. This live event will include details about course options as well as information about acceleration opportunities. All 6th and 7th grade students and families are encouraged to join the livestream. The link will be available on the Maple homepage and will also be sent out through ParentSquare.

  • The deadline for ordering a yearbook is February 27th. There will be NO yearbooks to purchase in June, and there is NO waitlist after the deadline. Please order now by going to your yearbook canvas page.

  • February is Black History Month. Ever wonder why we celebrate in February? This month was chosen because it includes the birthdays of two men who were vital to Black history: President Abraham Lincoln and abolitionist Frederick Douglass.

  • Today we are kicking off the American heart association’s kids challenge in your PE classes. We are excited to learn about heart health over the next few weeks! Get pumped up to earn some cool gear and potentially save a life! Info was sent home through parent square. Every morning, we will be sharing one heart health fact over the announcements and there will be more to come in PE class! Our first heart health fact today is:

Did you know that the heart beats about 100,000 times a day. That’s enough to fill a large swimming pool with blood every single day—your heart is powerful! Take care of it by staying active.

  • Today’s Lunch is popcorn chicken bites, mozzarella sticks, French fries, and veggies.
