In this tutorial black highlights are
used to call your attention to areas.
These areas will not appear black at Edline.
![]() Checking/Modifying Your Edline E-mail Address You may use any e-mail address at Edline. Your school e-mail (jdoe@saratogaschools.org) is a good choice for school business. On one of your class pages scroll
down to Command Center
Be sure you have included the
appropriate e-mail address. Review the
answers to the questions. Click Update
when you have finished. NOTE: Should you forget your password, the security question will help identify you as the account "owner" and the password will be automatically e-mailed to the e-mail address listed. This is a good thing to stress to your students and their parents -- if they include their e-mail address and the security question, they can retrieve a forgotten password themselves.

Determining Who Has E-mail Active In the Command Center click, Manage Class.
*******************************************To quickly get to the email option, click Send Email in the Command Center. From that point on the process is similar to what follows if you skip the Class Management part in the next frame. *******************************************
Scroll down on the Modify Class page to
Class Management. Click Member &
Permissions.

A list of your class will appear as
illustrated. (Student identifiers are removed for privacy.)
Notice that the listing shows whether the student and parent have provided
their e-mail address. That gives you the first indication of whether
they will receive your e-mail. (Note that the 3rd student has "No" for
both e-mails, has no screen name listed and the status is U (unactivated).
As far as you can tell this student and family is not taking advantage of
Edline.

Sending E-mail
Select parents, students, or both
to receive your email. Click Continue.
Compose Message Page The Recipient Summary gives you a breakdown of who should receive your email. If you click the (Who?) link, you can see and print a list of who will and who will not receive your email. (This is assuming that their email address is correct and that their email is working properly and that email is not blocked. Anti-spam and other programs can still prevent some people from receiving your message.)

Delivery Options Review and select the desired Delivery Options. Replies are a convenient method of communication that may cut down on phone tag, etc. It is helpful to send a copy to yourself so you can see exactly what others will get.
Message Section To: Notice that the to field does not show all the addresses. That is a privacy protection. From: You may modify the from field as you like -- some people do not open any email from people they do not recognize. It may be a good idea to place some reference to Maple Ave., school, or other identifier so recipients recognize a nonthreatening email. Subject: It is generally considered good etiquette to include a subject in an email. Message: Type your message here. NOTE: There is no spell checker. You may choose to type your message in MSWord and then cut and paste it into this box after you have taken advantage of the spell checking feature. Also the email is a plain text message -- fancy formatting is not available. Click Send when you are ready. Once you click send the message is sent to all recipients that you selected. You will get a confirmation message acknowledging that the message was sent. |
