Dear Parents/Guardians:
I hope this letter finds you and your family well and enjoying the activities of winter.
We are now several days into
the third quarter, and our students seem to have made a successful transition
into the
second half of the school year. If there are any questions regarding your
child’s schedule at this point, please contact
your child’s guidance counselor immediately.
When we return from the
February break, we will enter into the longest uninterrupted stretch of the
school year.
This is a very important time of the school year. Students who have been having
some difficulties can be successful
if they use this time to focus on their schoolwork. All students need to
continue their accomplishments by staying committed to their studies.
Please continue to stay
involved with your student’s progress. Your involvement and awareness helps to
ensure their success.
There are a number of ways in which you can do this: regular monitoring of
their homework and agenda book, Edline (www.edline.net),
and team conferences. If you need assistance with any of the before mentioned,
please contact your child’s guidance counselor.
Teams of Two is a
tutor/mentor program that meets on Wednesday or Thursday after school with sixth
graders who would
benefit from one-on-one help in homework completion. The volunteer program is
seeking caring adults from the community who can
commit one afternoon a week for eight weeks in order to make a difference in one
student’s life. For further information, please contact
Roseann Jackling, Coordinator, at 587-4551, ext. 2013.
The Northeast Comprehensive
Care Center for Eating Disorders will be doing a presentation in the Maple
Avenue Middle School
Library at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, immediately following the
PTSO/P.A.S.S. business meeting. Parents are
invited to attend this informational meeting.
You are cordially invited to
Maple Avenue’s musical production of “High School Musical”. Performances are on
Friday, February 8th
at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 9th at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Tickets will be sold at the door and are $5.00 each.
Have you ever thought of
working for the School District? Looking for flexible hours? Do you want to be
home when your children
are home (snow days, recesses, summer vacation)? The School Lunch Program is
looking for you to join their team! Applications for
employment may be obtained at the John MacFadden Administration Building on the
High School Campus. Call the Lunch Office for
information at 583-4704.
