Citations for Databases

The format of a database citation will vary depending on whether the item is from an information database, online book, article from a magazine, etc. Generally, you need to look for the following information:

Author's Name. "Title of Article or Document." Name of the Book, Magazine,

        Newspaper.
Volume Number and Issue (if given). Publication Date: Pages.

Name of Database. Name of Service. Name of Library System. City and State

        of Library.
Date of Access <URL Address>.

* If you cannot find some of the information, cite what is available.

** For items that originally appeared in print, begin with standard facts about the print publication, omitting data not given by the online service.
