Final Project

Introduction | Reflective Afterword | Final Project Checklist

You're Almost There! You've answered your research question through research, completed note taking and your learning journals. Then you created and finalized three genres and your works cited page. Your project is not complete, however, without an Introduction and Afterword. The Afterword, particularly, is a big part of your final project grade.

Introduction

Introduce your project as a whole. Ask yourself, what does the reader need to know about your topic and your genres to fully appreciate them? Give historical or other background on your topic, define terms, or explain any concepts necessary for an unfamiliar. Must be typed, about a half page.

Reflective Afterword

The Afterword must be typed, and at least a full page long. You must address all the following using specific details:

  • Describe why you chose your question-what is your personal interest in this question?
  • Explain what you were trying to show through the genres-ideas, information, and themes.
  • Explain why you chose these three genres-how do they fit the themes, ideas, information you were trying to portray.
  • Describe and reflect on your process of completing this project (use your learning journals).
  • Describe your process of revising and how you used what you learned about writing throughout the year to write and revise the genres.
  • What did you learn from this project?

Final Project Checklist:Turn in all of the following:

  • At least 4 learning journals
  • Drafts of all three genres, introduction, afterword, and works cited with teacher comments
