Dear Parents and Guardians:
It is with great pride that I present to you SARATOGA
SPECIAL, AN INTERNET GUIDE TO SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES.
The intent of this guide is to
provide you with a brief overview of the procedures,
terminology, and student and parent-guardian rights associated
with the provision of mandated support services in the Saratoga
Springs City School District.

This guide is written with your questions and potential concerns
in mind. The administrators and staff are very proud of the
history of excellence in the area of special education and
support services that exists in our district.
The Pupil Services Office exists to ensure your understanding of
the process that, at times, can appear overwhelming. Your
child’s education and confidential access to an appropriate
level of support is our highest priority. You are encouraged to
contact this office with any questions that are not readily

The district believes that parental understanding of the process
of providing support services for your child is the best
foundation upon which a partnership between home and family is
