Upcoming Programs

  • Wednesday, March 24: "Bullying!" for parents and caretakers of school-age children. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Head Start, Building 29, Jefferson Terrace. Meet with other parents to discuss this important issue and how it affects us. More

  • Saturday, April 24: "Health Fair," 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Geyser Road Elementary School.

  • Thursday, Sept. 17: Parent assembly with Jay Rifenbary, "No Excuses," 7 p.m., Maple Avenue Middle School auditorium.
     
  • Tuesday, Oct. 6:  Rachel Simmons, best-selling author of Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls, presents a program  for middle and high school parents and girls about bullying. The program is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for girls under 19. More here
     
  • Wednesday, Oct. 14:  "The Good, the Bad and the Misunderstood: Keeping Our Kids Cyber-Safe," 7 p.m., Trombley Auditorium, Maple Avenue Middle School. More
     
  • Thursday, Oct. 22: "Helping Around the House" (part of "Parenting Wisely" series presented by the Prevention Council), 6:30-8 p.m., Saratoga Springs Public Library.

  • Thursday, Nov. 5: "Speaking Respectfully and Obeying Requests" (part of "Parenting Wisely" series prevented by the Prevention Council) 6:30-8 p.m., Saratoga Springs Public Library.
     
  • Friday, Nov. 6: "Business/Career Expo & Trade Show," 10 a.m., Saratoga Springs High School Meade (teaching) Auditorium.
     
  • Saturday, Nov. 7: SPECIAL EVENT --"Parent University Summit, Partnership for Success," 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Maple Avenue Middle School

  • Monday, Dec. 7: "Taking Care of Yourself: Stress Management," is the title of a free community and professional workshop scheduled for 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension, located at 50 West High Street in Ballston Spa. The program is offered by the Health and Human Services Coalition of the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Council of Saratoga County. Presenters are Siobhan A'Hearn, exercise physiologist for Cornell Cooperative Extension, and Mary Zlotnick, community coordinator for the Prevention Council.   • Thursday, Jan. 28:  "My Child Has Been Tested: Help Me Understand What the Results Mean," 7-8 p.m., Lake Avenue Elementary School auditorium. The program for parents will be presented by Nikole Hearn, district school psychologist, and Rachel Mitchell, Lake Avenue school psychologist. More
