Community "Walkercise" program at Saratoga Springs High School
Saratoga Springs High School is the site for a
community
walking program that offers all district residents an option for exercising in a
comfortable, indoor setting. There is no cost for the "walkercise" program, offered from 4 to 7 p.m.
Mondays through Thursdays when school is in session. New walkers may join the
program at any time. Dates for the 2007 fall session
are Oct. 1 to Dec. 20. The 2008 winter session
begins Jan. 7 and ends June 13.
Walkers are required to pre-register at the high school's main office, where
they will be issued walkercise identification badges, which must be visible
while walking. Registration hours are 3 to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Previous participants do not need to
register. Walkers will receive maps of the school, where routes are marked at quarter-mile
intervals for the self-guided program. Parking is available in the main lot
across from the high school's main office.
The
renovated high school offers an expansive facility that
provides an attractive alternative for
walkers, especially when the weather makes outdoor exercise
impractical.
For more information, please call the high school at 587-6690, extension 8.
