Saratoga in top ten academically in Capital Region for third consecutive year
For the third consecutive year and at
least the fourth time in the past seven years, the Saratoga Springs City School District
is in the top ten academically of 85 Capital Region school
districts in the annual survey conducted
by The Business Review in Albany.
The district is ranked ninth in the 2007
survey (up from number ten in 2006), and for the fourth
year in a row,
is the top city school district in the
survey. Others in the top ten are central
school districts.
Rankings are based on five categories: scores on state
assessments in elementary and middle school, and Regents exams in
language/reading, social studies, science and math, as well as
graduation rates.
"We're proud of this recognition because
it reflects the hard work and dedication of our students and
staff," said
Dr. John E. MacFadden, who retired June 30 as
superintendent of schools.
