Code of Conduct
A Code of Conduct which applies to
all people on school property was
first adopted by the Board of Education in 2001,
and is updated annually, in compliance with the Safe
Schools Against Violence (SAVE) legislation, effective July 1,
2001, for all New York State schools.
The code was developed in consultation with teachers, parents, students, administrators
and other community/school representatives, representing the
special needs of the elementary, middle and high school levels.

The district has a long-standing set of expectations for conduct
on school property and at school functions. These expectations
are based on the principles of civility, mutual respect,
citizenship, character, tolerance, honesty and integrity.
The school board recognized the need to clearly define these
expectations for acceptable conduct and to ensure that
discipline, when necessary, is administered promptly and fairly.
To this end, the board has adopted the Code of
Conduct.
Unless otherwise indicated, the code applies to all
students, school personnel, parents and other visitors when on
school property or attending a school function.
