Notice of Privacy Practices related to confidentiality of medical records
(Parents whose children will receive H1N1 immunizations at district schools may wish to review this document).

H1N1 immunization reminder: Consent forms for students who will receive the H1N1 immunization in school must be returned by Monday, Nov. 16. Parents who have not received consent forms and informational flyers should contact their children's schools as soon as possible. The consent form requires two signatures: one from a parent and a second from a witness to the parent's signature.

Saratoga Springs High School, in partnership with the Saratoga Springs Rotary Club, held the sixteenth annual Academic Recognition Program at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 5, in the school’s Loewenberg Auditorium. More

 

BOARD OF EDUCATION TO MEET DEC. 8

The next regular meeting of the Board of Education is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, in the Meade (teaching) Auditorium at the Saratoga Springs High School. The public is invited to attend.

A special presentation on anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder offered by the school district’s Office of Pupil Services on Oct. 23 attracted a motivated audience of more than 30 school psychologists, speech therapists, teachers and administrators. More

CIVIL WAR REENACTORS AT MAPLE AVENUE MIDDLE SCHOOL SEPT. 18
A group of Civil War reenactors visited the Maple Avenue Middle School on Sept. 18, to present living history programs to seventh- and eighth-graders. The third annual Saratoga Springs Civil War Encampment was held in Congress Park on Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20. For more on the encampment, click here.

 

School Report Card
The state's latest School Report Card, published in March 2009 by the New York State Education Department for the 2007-08 school year, demonstrates that students in our school district continue to exceed the academic achievements of their counterparts in other New York State public schools. Five-year trends show that scores have consistently risen and are above state averages. The report cards are released each spring by the Education Department for all public schools in the state.     Bus Proposition Approved and three elected
    to Board of Education
    NO TAX LEVY INCREASE IN  2009-2010 BUDGET
    Voters overwhelmingly approved a
    $110,129,656 budget for 2009-2010 by a vote of 2,242-878 on May 19. There is no increase in the tax levy.  A school bus purchase proposition was approved by a vote of 2,128-954, and three trustees were elected to the Board of Education. More results

  • "SAFE SPRING" EVENT AT HIGH SCHOOL ON MAY 13
    The hi
    gh school held a "Safe Spring" event on Wednesday, May 13, to encourage students to have a safe prom, graduation and summer. Co-sponsored by the school SADD Club and the school resource officer, John Kelly of the Saratoga Springs Police Department, the program involved a car crash re-enactment including an ambulance, police vehicles, hearse, and other realistic elements. A guest speaker shared information about losing a loved one due to a car accident.
     
  • COMMUNITY YOUTH SUMMIT HELD MAY 9 AT HIGH SCHOOL
    A Community Youth Summit on Alcohol and Prescription Drug Abuse was held at the high school on Saturday, May 9. The program featured Steve Langley, a lecturer on substance abuse and addiction education from Mountainside Rehabilitation Center in Canaan, CT.   • NEW ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSE AT HIGH SCHOOL
    A new course in conversational Italian at the high school is introducing students to the language and culture of Italy. Students had the opportunity to prepare and sample some authentic cuisine during an "Iron Chef Italiano" competition on Feb. 6.
    This learning experience was an interdepartmental collaboration involving the Foreign Language Department, the Family and Consumer Sciences Department and the Technology Department.
