BODY SCULPTING WITH HAND WEIGHTS AND DYNABANDS

This class, taught by a certified Exercise Safety instructor, uses dynabands to sculpt major opposing muscle groups in a balanced way. After working on muscular endurance, the class will conclude with abdominal toning and a relaxing stretch. Participants should bring their own hand weights, a towel, mat, water and $5 to purchase a dynaband from the instructor.

This class is designed as an introductory program in basic horseback riding. Members may select either stock seat, western or balance seat, or English style of riding. Special provisions will be made for more advanced riders. The class will meet the first night in a classroom, with the other classes to be held at Mrs. Friday's stable in Gansevoort. Classes will use indoor arena. Fee does not include cost of rental for horses ($50 payable to instructor the first night of class covers all riding lessons).

WEIGHT LIFTING FOR WOMEN - LEVEL I

After the age of 30, individuals lose a third to a half pound of lean muscle mass per year. Strength training has been shown to preserve this muscle tissue, lower the risk of osteoporosis, and improve one's psychological well-being. This class offers an introduction to strength training, covering proper techniques, flexibility and posture. You will learn the basics and feel comfortable continuing on your own at the completion of this class. Instructor Sue Johnson is certified as a professional trainer and teaches the class in a relaxed setting for beginners. Participants should bring their own hand weights. 2, 3 or 4 pound weights are appropriate for beginners. Taking both nights of class is recommended. Class size limited to 40.
